Finally, I decided to have my nails done professionally!
You see, I've been manicuring my very own nails 'cause I feel I'm more thorough, especially the filing/buffing. I want it to be "perfectly" shaped, all sides EVEN. With manicurists, they wouldn't see the difference... One time, back in PI, I got my manicure service at home. I told the lady, do what you gotta do EXCEPT nail-shaping! She seemed kinda surprised to hear me say that as I grabbed her nail file and use it myself. You don’t think I’m weird, do ya? =) (I wonder if she was that kind of manicurist who was “obsessed” with filing other’s nails; ‘cause she never came back.)
We drove approximately 8 minutes from home to Centerville Turnpike. There were nail salons nearer to our place, of course, but this one’s near Atlantis Comics. So, while I was pampering my nails, Lance was spoiling himself with Magic cards! Give-and-take, baby.
As I walked towards the “manicurist’s table” (well, wachamacalit), I thought of speaking Tagalog. But when these Asians started speaking their native tongue, I was like, “whawasdat?” It was quite funny to my ears. They sounded like bouncing springs. You know, twoing... twang... toingk... Whoa! Were they talkin’ ‘bout ME?!! I got a lil paranoid.
French Tips in the U.S.A.
So… they’re Vietnamese and one of them will give me those pretty white tips. I've always wanted to have them...
I so admire those with clean UNPOLISHED nails and NATURALLY WHITE tips! There are times when I would STARE (as in OGLE!) at someone's nails (toes and feet!) for long that they'd think I'm crazy. Even on mag pix where I find those shiny brads, it would take me some minutes before I flip the pages.
Well, I always think these women must've been born with great nails. Unfortunately, I am not. I try hard to keep mine beautiful. But a week after, they start chipping, worse, breaking. Even with nail hardener. (How about that?!!) That's why I'm fakin' it. And thank GOD for that wonderful invention!
For about 40 minutes, I felt happier.

Hey, nail tips for you. If you want polish that lasts (won't chip or fade) on your own nails, try Revlon ColorStay. I swear it lasts so much longer than most other polish brands. The only other brand I know that lasts as long is OPI (but much more expensive too). I find it easier to work with my own nails than the fake ones...and these brands are well worth the money.
wel, dat's a nice tip. TNX! L try dat nxt time wen these fake ones fall off...
pero, matagal pa un. dey said it hurts wen u take them off or let some1 do it 4 ya. i don't know... anyway, i believe in Revlon. they're great! but haven't put that on my nails 4 a very loooooong time. but i think it's just me sometimes. i cnt make my polish last longer so i go 2 professionals 2 do it 4 me.
TNX, Leah, i apprec8 it! =)
Oh, when the time comes and you're ready to take them off, just get a bottle of acetone and soak your nails in it for about 15 mins or so, they'll melt right off. Then all you'll need to do after that is buff para maging smooth ulit yung surface. If you get the professional to do it, sometimes the use that tool to buff and they take too much of your own nails off...then that would really hurt. Anyway, just thought I'd give you my two cents.
COOL!
I was considering that service also but now that you informed me, well, I'll do it myself then. And it saves me a little dollar as well! Tnx-tnx-tnx... Galing mo talaga, Leah! =)
