You Thought of It. I will plan for it.
I was folding the clothes that night when, out of the blue, I spoke of moving to California. I pointed out the importance of acting as soon as possible while Sophia is still young and my parents, in good health. Lance was, as usual, playing his favorite online game, World of Warcraft, and almost not paying attention. He was not totally surprised the fact that it was him who dreamed of it over two years ago...
One time, as we drove along Pleasant Valley towards Ferrell Parkway crossing, Lance laid his plan. He said we either stay in Virginia Beach for three years or save, at least, $30,000.00, whichever comes first. The second option was my bet knowing we did not really have too much to spend on. However, I hardly thought of how it was going to happen. Our seemingly cozy jobs, I believed, would already lead us all to a bright future so why go astray? This thought made the big move looked so obscure – duskier than this wintery nightfall. The only thing certain was this – our weekday move on a safe route from work to home.
During my pregnancy, Lance would still express how much he wanted to move back to San Francisco. A lot of times, he showed me his former neighborhood via Google Map and reminisced. His persuasive reflection was never necessary since I longed for the big (American) city life, too.
Back to our clothes and our Renfrew bedroom, that moving idea became a bit serious to me when I could not steal Lance’s attention. I wanted to take his eyes away from his flat screen (as ever) by making a topic sound so urgent. Although I was successful, it was not enough to convince him to say yes at that point. He found it unfeasible considering we just became first-time parents. Of course, like him, I still hardly thought of the “big how’s of it all”. But even as a recuperating mom, I knew deep down inside, we (or at least I) will find a way.
